If you’re anything like me, you have all the cheap travel alerts set to ping any time a great deal comes along. You might notice that you have been receiving some pretty amazing deals in the midst of the Corona Virus outbreak.
A lot of folks think that as long as they are mostly healthy and young, they will not be affected by the virus. The reality is, we are still learning a lot about this virus. More and more is being announced each day as we tackle and learn affects and dangers.

The thinking that you are healthy, young and will survive should you catch this virus is a very selfish and self serving attitude. While you may survive through this, someone whom you infect may not.
It is our responsibly at this time to do what is best for the world and not what is simply best for ourselves. We will not survive with that attitude.
I’m not a gambling person, but if I were to make a guess I would imagine that deals will last past the Corona Virus. As with any kind of public scare, it takes time to regain the confidence of the public to begin travel once more. As such, it would be best to wait this out and travel once these restrictions have lifted and the risks have passed.

That is the point when you can lead by example. We can be the ambassadors of travel once travel is safe and recommended again.
Most airlines are offering some kind of refund and or voucher for any ticket that was previously booked. There are those who are choosing to book low fairs now, hoping to cancel later on and cash in on these. While this might work to some extent, I think it’s important again not to take a selfish stance on the current circumstances.

Airlines are already overwhelmed with changing existing tickets as well as keeping up with ongoing travel bans. I encourage you all to think beyond yourselves, to think about those being displaced from jobs in the travel industry and the very real impact it’s having all over the world as a result of this. A great deal is not worth the risk of spreading this virus around the world and potentially on to those more vulnerable.
I encourage you all to hold off on your travel plans, hold off on snagging those great deals and remember that we will have these opportunities again, when the time is right and the virus is contained. Those are the deals we should be taking advantage of, those are the times when we can help to rebuild and repair businesses and individuals that depend on the travel industry and the money it brings into countries. We will then have an opportunity to lead by example.

In the meantime, I suggest exploring some fantastic virtual alternatives:
